The literal meaning of Niyama in Sanskrit is “positive duties or observances”. In yoga philosophy, it’s a set of five recommended activities and habits for healthy living, spiritual enlightenment and a liberated state of existence. Yoga, Meditation, and Breathing techniques are at the backbone of this philosophy, and thus form the core of every Niyama Wellness Retreat. The daily programs and themes vary according to the property and surroundings, but two world class yoga and meditation teachers bind together the experiences that are carefully designed to create lasting shifts in your mind, body, and spirit.
Leah Santa Cruz shares Yoga, Meditation and Intimacy arts to entrepreneurs and working professionals. She empowers people who lead busy lives with tools to regain their balance, energy, focus and inner joy.
Her background started in psychology and neuroscience, followed by a decade working in fast-paced careers for Microsoft and tech startups. After experiencing burn-out, anxiety and a desire to follow her heart, she dove head-first into yoga and meditation. Her workshops help people strip away years of stress, restore their energy and zest for life, and strengthen their relationships to themselves and loved ones.
With a nurturing demeanor that’s grounded in science, Leah makes these tools accessible by explaining how they actually work and their practical, real-life applications. She’s taught workshops in studios, corporations, co-working spaces and festivals around the world, including: Los Angeles, Chicago, Thailand, Bali, Singapore and Australia.
Leah’s a Certified 200-RYT Yoga Teacher, 200-RYT Meditation Teacher and Level II Reiki Practitioner, having studied under Master Teachers: Mark Whitwell, Dr. Lorin Roche, Ph.D, and former Vedic Monk, Steve Ross. Christina has been learning and teaching yoga, mindfulness and meditation for over 10 years. In recent years, she’s been particularly immersed in the power of the mind/body connection and it’s importance to overall health and well-being. Christina brings to her classes dedication and passion while fostering a feeling of openness and independence.
With over 1000 hours of advanced training in various styles of yoga including Universal, Ashtanga, Anusara, Yin
and Hot, Christina isn’t tied to one style of yoga, but rather incorporates various aspects from a variety of styles in a unique, creative, and fun way. Her classes are challenging, yet a place where each individual can find his or her own path of physical and spiritual growth.
Christina is a free-spirited California native with a passion for yoga and living a healthy and active lifestyle. A graduate of US Berkeley in Human Biodynamics and team captain of Berkeley’s NCAA Division I gymnastics team, Christina has been an advocate of health and wellness for as long as she can remember. Post gymnastics, she continued to stay active and has participated in several marathons and ultra marathons from the Great Wall of China to the ethereal trails of Annapurna, Nepal.
The consummate student, she continues to dig deeper into the vast topic of the mind-body connection. This has led her to additional studies in Myofascial Release, Mindfulness, Anatomy and Nutrition. All these areas are directly related to overall health and happiness. Of particular interest to her is the study of fascia, which is bridging the gap between the mind and body; we are just beginning to learn about the direct connection between the health of our fascia and our overall wellbeing.
As a yoga teacher, health coach and mentor her goal is to help guide and support the development of and progress towards the overall personal wellness goals of her clients.

After spending 11 years in Investment Banking and Private Equity between New York, Hong Kong, and the UAE, Saket quit his job, donated all his possessions to charity, and took time off to travel. His travels led him to the magical island of Bali where he re-discovered his passion for yoga and completed a 200 hour teacher training. His journey continued with a 10 day silent Vipassana meditation in Java, practicing Ashtanga Yoga and Pranayama with BNS Iyengar at the source in Mysore India, and learning the basics of the Chakra System and Hatha Yoga at the world renowned Ashram of the Bihar School of Yoga in Jarkhand, India.
As he continued his exploration of mind and body, he became acutely aware of the unconscious damage he’d been doing to himself over the years, and that motivated him to begin his personal healing process and found Niyama Wellness Retreats. Having spent countless hours in front of computer screens and corporate boardrooms, Saket now spends his time travelling and seeking world class wellness practitioners and properties that can become part of the Niyama Wellness Retreats family.
Saket is a Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Teacher, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Babson College, a MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and an Advanced Scuba Diving License.
